Understanding Poets

A poem by Beverly Stock.

There are writers and there are poets.

There are cheetahs and there are hobbits,

Writers, poets, cheetahs and hobbits,

Man and beast have annoying habits.

Annoying habits make fools complain,

Complain too much and it sounds the same.

Nails on a blackboard or drive some in wood,

Eating squash for lunch or playing squash is good.

Current logic is deep like a river,

Holding live current wet, makes us quiver.

Hold a racket or simply shout out loud,

If you understood this, you made me proud.
