Too Many Cats

A poem by Beverly Stock.

Cat One pretends to be a friend,

The shorthairs number two thru ten.

Their nine kittens-- a dividend!

Plus Five Bengals, with spots of yellow,

Followed by four Ginger fellows.

A burly Tabby, Bobtail Cat--

He is the cat that killed the rat.

As their meowing tenor grows and climbs,

All voice their choice-- IT’S DINNER TIME!!

Yes, too many cats. That’s 29!
