A Cento inspired by the work of Robert Herrick

Away with silks, sewn and drawn,

Garments made by those renowned,

I dress with integrity,

Not in fancy drapery.

Garments lasting evermore,

Simple style’s ambassador,

Neither tettar,* time, or moth,

Shall alter my mind or cloth.

No consequence shall I fear,

From my humble Sunday wear.

*Tettar, scab

Beverly is often inspired to create poems, such as “Church Clothes,” which combines her original verse and words from established poetry, in the public domain, such as that of Robert Herrick:

Clothes Do But Cheat and Cozen Us”

Clothes For Continuance

Clothes Are Conspirators
