Understanding Poets

A poem by Beverly Stock.

There are writers and there are poets

There are cheetahs and there are hobbits

Writers, poets, cheetahs and hobbits, man

And beast have annoying habits.

Annoying habits make fools complain

Complain too much and it all sounds the same.

Nails on a blackboard or drive some in wood

Eat squash for lunch or playing squash is good.

Current logic is deep like a river

Holding live current while wet makes me quiver

Hold a racket or simply shout out loud

If you understood this, you made me proud.
