Dressing Up For An X-Ray

A poem by Beverly Stock.

We need to use some common sense

When traveling down life’s highway

Acting so pious and perfect in Church

Is like dressing-up for an x-ray!*

Regardless of how fancy you are

You're a petulant czar to act like a star

In all your best-dressed outside layers

Beside your friends in pews saying prayers.

The higher power has super vision

Despite pretension, he sees intentions

Be honest from now till death do you part

And avoid becoming a Hellish up-start.

Remember the x-ray, it always provides

A view of where evil might try to hide

When gratitude is your default setting

All is well and gratitude starts spreading.
