A poem by Beverly Stock.

Secluded in room bare of light

I enter battle in the night

Against a foe, my dreams in tow

A blank faced demon I don’t know.

His banner over me a sword

My string-like bones, his harpsichord

And in sudden whirlwinds breath

I feel he has secured my death.

Before conclusion I’ll spite this strife

On to the source of revealing light

My antacids will at last proclaim

My demon, “Fast Food” is to blame.
