Say hurray for the Spelling Bee!

All can join in above grade two;

Make a grade school memory,

In middle school too, as years accrue.

Bees offer a base to compare,

If you're at all in any doubt,

On deciphering their or there,

Or know what they’re talking about.

Hurray for giving scholarships

A requisite prize for sure,

Once awarded, they grandly equip,

Our new spelling ambassadors.

Hurray for their gadding about

On a Saturday afternoon,

When the lights of the bee are out,

Then home by the light of the moon!

And, after every competition,

Improving everyone’s mind,

With studious bits of exertion,

The Bee’s most worthwhile kind!

*Literally, long-nosed.
