A poem by Beverly Stock.

Please do not be too uptight,

This is under copyright.

Indeed, all the words are mine.

Warning! Do not plagiarize,

Copy it, or aggrandize.

I have written, birthed and brought,

Holding my thesaurus taught,

When writing rhymes, I’m devout.

Spell-checked, planned, success forecast.

First hand verse will always last,

My pen moves, the die is cast.

Words form in my mind’s cortex,

Rhyming words in a vortex,

Stringent poetry is complex.

Writing verse is everything,

Rhyming syntax always brings,

Solitude, a calming peace,

As well as a lasting crease,

In my skirt in which I sit.

Mind as sharp, as days are long,

Like writing lyrics for a song.

Some may envy what I write,

Some may even get uptight.

Just so you know, I’ll be all right,

Because I use a copyright.
